安芷生校友也是今年中国当选的唯一一位美国科学院外籍院士。

  当地时间5月3日,美国科学院通过其官网宣布了2016年度新当选的美国科学院院士
名单。84位来自美国本土的科学家新当选为美国科学院院士。另有来自14个国家和地区
的21位科学家新当选为美国科学院外籍院士。美国科学院在其官网中称,新当选的美国
科学院院士都在原创研究中做出了杰出和源源不断的贡献。

  在21位外籍院士中,中国科学院院士、美国地球物理学会会士、发展中国家科学院
院士、中国科学院地球环境研究所研究员安芷生位列其中。他也是本年度当选的我国唯
一供职国内研究机构的研究人员。

  安芷生从事地球科学研究50余年,他基于中国黄土和其它生物地质记录的野外观测
和大陆环境科学钻探的研究,将野外观测、实验分析和数值模拟相结合,突破经典全球
冰期-间冰期理论,提出东亚环境变化的季风控制论和亚洲季风变迁的动力学,解析了
亚洲环境变化的机理,得到国际认可。他指出我国季风区和干旱区现今自然环境是亚洲
季风-干旱环境系统长期耦合演化的结果,生态环境修复应遵循自然演变的规律,为我
国西部,特别是黄土高原生态环境治理提供了科技支撑。他开拓了第四纪地质学与全球
变化研究相融合的新领域,为我国培养了一大批从事第四纪地质学和全球变化研究的高
水平科学家,为地球系统科学研究的发展和我国区域可持续发展战略的制定做出了贡献
